Polygraph

Polygraph testing involves the measurement of changes in physical response connected to deception (lying). (APA-American Polygraph Association Standards and Guidelines)

TYPES OF EXAMINATIONS:

Pre-Conviction Specific Issue Examination. These examinations are usually conducted for third party criminal defense attorneys or mental health professionals only. The examination covers the examinees truthfulness as it relates to the alleged criminal misconduct or act, e.g. “Did you fire the shot that killed John Smith?” Due to the obvious complexities and individual nature of criminal cases we assess our fees on a case-by-case basis.  However, you can generally expect to pay between $500 and $650 per examination session. Please contact me for a telephone consultation and quote.

Post-Conviction Sex Offender Testing (PCSOT). Using a containment model approach, these examinations are conducted for therapists, clinicians, and court systems that wish to monitor/maintain a convicted sex offender's compliance with their court ordered conditions of probation and/or therapy goals. Due to the obvious complexities and individual nature of criminal cases I assess my fees on a case-by-case basis.  However, you can generally expect to pay between $350 and $650 per examination session. Please contact me for a telephone consultation and quote.

Sexual History Examinations. These examinations are usually conducted as part of an assessment I am doing, or for other mental health professionals who are doing psychosexual assessments for court purposes, or to verify history as part of treatment planning for offenders or non-offenders with sexual problems. Due to the complexities and individual nature of these cases I assess my fees on a case-by-case basis.  However, you can generally expect to pay between $500 and $650 per examination session. Please contact me for a free telephone consultation and quote.

Non-Criminal Specific Issue Examinations. These examinations are usually conducted for therapy clients (mine, or another therapist's) who wish to determine a significant other’s truthfulness regarding a specific act or action, e.g. “Were you smoking marijuana in your bedroom last Saturday night?”  For a straightforward single-issue examination such as the example provided, you can expect to pay $350. More complex and/or multiple issues start at $500, please contact me for a free telephone consultation and quote. However, please be advised I conduct clinical forensic psychophysiological examinations* only. Therefore, I cannot accommodate a laundry list of questions such as you may have seen on some television shows. Reliable and validated forensic examination techniques do not allow for more than two separate issues per examination.

Fidelity Testing. These examinations are usually conducted for therapy clients (mine, or another therapist's) who wish to determine a person’s truthfulness regarding a suspected act of infidelity, e.g. “Have you had sexual contact with anyone other than ______ since ______?”  For a straightforward single-issue examination you can expect to pay $500. More complex and/or multiple issues start at $600, please contact me for a free telephone consultation and quote. This type of examination tends to be more time consuming and therefore more costly then most other examinations. Be advised that I conduct clinical forensic psychophysiological examinations* only. Therefore, I cannot accommodate a laundry list of questions such as you may have seen on some television shows. Reliable and validated forensic examination techniques do not allow for more than two separate issues per examination. Basically, you tell me what it is you want to know, or prove, and I will do the rest.

Employer (EPPA Testing). These examinations are conducted for employers that can articulate reasonable suspicion that employees have engaged in dishonest business practices. These cases are very complex and involve many legal constraints outlined in the Employee Polygraph Protection Act. I do not conduct this type examination.

Pre-Employment Examinations for Law Enforcement and Armored Car Companies. These examinations are conducted for perspective employees of law enforcement agencies and/or armored car companies at $250 per employee.

Governmental Agencies. I provide a wide variety of services to municipalities and governmental agencies. I conduct pre-employment examinations, post-conviction sex offender testing, and many other types of examinations that address specific concerns and problems. Please contact me for a proposal/bid.

Quality Control Services. I provide quality control evaluations to persons or entities that wish to have prior polygraph examinations reviewed by a third party. A quality control review consists of an evaluation of the polygraph process utilized--including a review of any audio and/or video evidence, question formulation, testing procedure, chart interpretation and professional opinion rendered. Please contact me for a free telephone consultation and quote. I determine these services at the rate of $150 per hour.

Courtroom Testimony. Should I be required to testify in court, I charge a fee for my time at the rate of $200 per hour with a four hour minimum paid in advance for local cases. I calculate the fee based on the total time devoted, including travel time and “stand-by” time for local cases. Additional travel, and lodging costs are arranged ahead of time and must also be paid in advance.
